EDUB information portal
The University of Barcelona is a university with a standing commitment to excellence in teaching, research and knowledge transfer. It strives to develop and implement learning methodologies uniquely adapted to each stage of higher education.
It is our pleasure to welcome you to the website of the Doctoral School of the University of Barcelona (EDUB). Taking a doctoral programme is a fascinating way to take your first steps in research, developing an initial idea into a complex research study, from the basic research question to a completed thesis that contributes to wider scientific progress. It requires years of effort, countless hours of laboratory or field work and extensive reading and writing. It involves carrying out original research in a laboratory, with a research group, at a research centre or institute, under the guidance of a supervisor who will accompany you as you put together your doctoral thesis. The programme culminates in the formal reading and defence of the thesis, after which you will receive the highest qualification in the university system: the doctoral degree. It is also the pathway to a career in research, university teaching and many areas of professional practice.
