International mobility for doctoral studies

To enhance the quality of your research, you are offered the possibility of completing a research visit at a university, laboratory or research institute in another country.

Whether you are a PhD at the University of Barcelona, or if you are doing your doctorate at another university, and you want to come and do research at the University of Barcelona, we tell you how to do it.

The different predoctoral programmes (FI, FI-SDUR, FPU, FPI, PRE-DOCS UB) offer financial support for foreign research visits. If you have one of these contracts, check the application deadlines and the type of financial support at: beca.predoctoral@ub.edu. If you don't have any kind of financial support, the University of Barcelona offers funding to ensure that all doctoral students have the option of completing a research visit at another university.

Study abroad

If you are writing your thesis at the UB and want to carry out a research visit at a foreign institution or research centre, there are several options open to you. The research visit is often essential for completing a particular part of the research plan. Even when this is not the case, it will be an enriching experience and invaluable for the preparation of your thesis.

Come and study at the UB

If you want to come to the UB for temporary period of doctoral studies to work on your thesis or to carry out research under a joint supervision agreement, the UB offers the best possible research structures for your needs: a wide range of departments, groups and observatories dedicated to research in all branches of knowledge.

The standard procedure is to establish an agreement with the doctoral programme that most closely matches your interests to manage it through a UB researcher.
