The EDUB

Doctoral studies at the UB are organized through the Doctoral School (EDUB) across a range of programmes offered by the different faculties. The EDUB is the unit with overall responsibility for doctoral studies; the faculties organize all of the administrative and academic procedures including the reading of the doctoral thesis, and the programme directors oversee the organization of training activities, progress reviews and the authorization for students to proceed to the thesis defence.

We promote academic excellence in the training of our doctoral students, providing support for the generation and transfer of knowledge. We make a significant contribution to the UB's status as a leading, internationally respected institution.

Our headquarters

The EDUB is based in the Casa Granell Manresa, one of the jewels of Barcelona's modernista architecture. Built in 1903, it was designed by the architect Jeroni Ferran Granell i Manresa (Barcelona, 1867-1931). It is listed as a cultural asset of local interest. The building was completely restored in 2004, in particular to highlight the original modernista elements. It has been home to several UB services since 2013. We are based on the first floor.
