Procedure and supporting documentation

The documentation corresponding to qualifications issued outside Spain must be attached to the application for access and admission. To certify the validity of studies completed abroad, it is necessary to carry out specific procedures to verify that both the studies completed and the degrees obtained exist, as well as the institution that issued them.

The following documents are required:

  • Academic certificate indicating the grades obtained for the degree used for the purpose of admission to the doctoral programme, including the gradepoint average.
  • Degree certificate for the qualification used for the purpose of admission.
  • Academic certificate indicating the grades obtained for the master's degree used for the purpose of admission to the doctoral programme, including the gradepoint average.
  • The master's degree certificate.
  • DNI, NIE, passport or ID document.
  • The web page for each doctoral programme will indicate whether additional documents are required.

All foreign documents must be duly legalized.

Consult the details of the legalization procedure.

  • Translation

Candidates whose documents were not issued in Catalan, Spanish or English must provide official translations. For information on the translation procedure, consult the requirements page.

  • Fees

A fee is payable for the study of equivalence of foreign qualifications used for admission to a doctoral programme.

  • Submission of supporting documentation

If the academic certificates or the degree certificate do not have an electronic signature, it will be necessary to upload the files to the UB application and bring the original documents to the Secretary's Office so that certified copies can be made and incorporated into the electronic file. Until this documentation has been received, the resolution on access will not be final.
