What are the most-read five news of 2023?

Once again, the Institutional Communication Unit of the University of Barcelona shares with the university community and society the actions, activities and projects the UB has generated during 2023. 

Of all the informative content generated at the UB, the most read piece of news was the English version of “Following a Mediterranean diet reduces the risk of cognitive decline in older people”. The news, published on 17 November, recorded a total of 7,068 views and was about the results of a study that analyzed the biological mechanisms related to the impact of the diet on the cognitive health of the ageing population. 

The second most read news of 2023 was the Catalan version of the “UB Rector’s Office Elections”. It was about the announcement of the advanced elections of the Rector’s Office of the University of Barcelona, decided by the rector, Joan Guàrdia. This decision was announced during the Governing Council on 11 October, and the news talking about it received a total of 4,136 views. 

Following the news on the elections is the third most read piece of news (2,752), which announced the second day for voting, 5 December: “Continuen les eleccions al Rectorat de la UB (The Rector’s Office Elections are still on).

The fourth position is held by the Catalan version of the news piece that announced, on 16 March, the alliance between the University of Barcelona and the Gremi de Pastisseria de Barcelona to create an Easter cake. It received a total of 2,383 views. This initiative aimed to promote and disseminate science and arise scientific vocations among children.  

Last but not least, the top 5 of most-read news in 2025 includes the news piece on the navigation through the UB Virtual Campus. Published on September, “Estudiar al Campus Virtual de la UB serà més fácil i intuïtiu” received 1,855 views. The news talked about novelties of this platform, updated on the Moodle 4.x version for the 2023-2024 academic year.
