Els Vespres de la UB’s come of age consolidated as the main cradle of emerging music in Catalonia
The aim of Els Vespres de la UB is to promote culture and support emerging talent, with the support from local record labels and music agents. The cycle will be opened on July 11 by the band Al·lèrgiques al Pol·len, who have released their third LP. With their new songs, they call for sorority, to break with the myth of romantic love and to live life as one wants. The new sorority achieved with their album leads to a festive and danceable live performance that will revolutionize the summer nights.
On 13 July comes Paco Te Quiero, a Young band from Barcelona that expresses music through guitars, catchy melodies and fast-paced rhythms. Their first album is Bajona de Verano.
On 18 July, Virts Martos, an artist living in Cubelles, will perform in Els Vespres de la UB. In the okdw project, he combines an amalgam of styles ranging from rhythm and blues to soul, jazz, and pop. The title of the first LP, 08880, combines music that allows us to dance and have fun while reflecting on contradictory realities of the Z Generation.
Julia Amor, from Andorra but living in Barcelona, will be in charge of closing the 18th edition of Els Vespres de la UB. She will present her new album, Lo que pensé que era el amor, in which she walks hand in hand with vulnerability while avoiding the ghosts from the past. This is a fight to break for good with what she has learnt and to run towards the light.
The concerts will start at 9:00 pm. Tickets, which must be booked in advance, include a drink and cost five euros. Bookings will be available on the website ub.edu/vespres. Finca Agustí Pedro i Pons can be reached easily by public transport, as the Peu del Funicular station of Ferrocarrils de la Generalitat de Catalunya is just five minutes away.
The space where the concerts take place has a terrace and bar service, where people can find Caravan Made's gourmet hamburgers, made with quality local products. The artistic direction and production of Els Vespres are brought by the cooperative L'Afluent and the concerts are sponsored by Moritz.
