This year, the University of Barcelona is once again the most popular first-choice university in Catalonia. It also ranks first in the number of total applications (12,226) and first-choice applications (8,194). The UB is also the university with the highest cut-off mark of all the universities offering 40 or more places, with 13.04 for the Bachelor's degree in Medicine (Campus Clínic). In terms of degrees with fewer than 40 places, the cut-off mark for the double degree in Physics and Mathematics at the UB is 13.31, second only to 13.43 for the same degree at the Autonomous University of Barcelona (UAB).

As in previous years, six of the seven most wanted bachelor's degree courses by new students are at the UB. The bachelor's degree in Medicine at the Campus Clínic ranks first, with 1,668 applications, followed by Psychology, with 1,167 applications, and Business Administration and Management, with 1,013 applications. The bachelor's degree in Nursing at the Bellvitge Campus is the fifth most popular, with 811 first-choice applications, followed by the bachelor's degree in Dentistry, with 784, and Law, with 774.

"These figures are very positive, not only numerically, but also because they reflect a well-planned, high-quality academic offer of social interest", said the rector of the UB, Joan Guàrdia. The two new courses offered this year have also recorded good results in terms of pre-enrolment — said the rector of the UB — which confirms that the work carried out to improve these degrees has been successful". The UB's bachelor's degree in Nursing, now part of the recently created Faculty of Nursing, has consolidated the pre-enrolment figures of previous years and, between the two campuses where it is offered, has registered nearly 1,400 applications. The new degree in Geography and Global Change has increased by more than twenty the number of pre-enrolments for the former Geography degree.
