The University of Barcelona (UB) has reached an agreement with the Chinese company Dimosis Lifescience & Medical that will allow to do research on proteins that will help in the prognosis and therapy of lung cancer. The research team will be led by Alfons Navarro Ponz, professor at the Department of Surgery and Surgical Specializations of the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences of the UB.

The aim of this research is to identify exosomal proteins with potential clinical use, the ones found in the bloodstream encapsulated in small vesicles. The study aims to establish a protocol for identifying the exosomal proteins with potential functions as biomarkers and to observe the role they play in carcinogenesis and metastasis.
