The ceremony will start with an introduction by the rector of the UB, Joan Guàrdia. Among the speakers are the dean of the Faculty of Law, Xavier Pons; the ombudsman of the UB, Lluís Caballol; the director-general of Law, Legal Entities and Medication of the Catalan Government, Joan Ramon Casals; the director of the Department of Private Law of the UB, Santiago Espiau; and the UPF professor of Private Law, Joan Egea. There will be two lectures on Catalan civil law given by the UB emeritus professor Ferran Badosa and one by Miquel Mirambell, Antoni Mirambellʼs son, who is also an adjunct lecturer at the UB. His brother, Jordi Mirambell, will take part in the closing ceremony.
The UB lecturers of civil law Esperança Ginebra and Elena Lauroba, coordinators of the book Llibre Homenatge a Antoni Mirambell, will present this volume in the ceremony. The publication aims to contribute to create a rigorous technical corpus of Catalan law, one of Antoni MIrambellʼs goals. The book has two parts. The first one has a series of similarities of Antoni Mirambell, which place the defining aspects of his professional and personal career. The second part includes writings by jurists with whom Antoni Mirambell had a close relationship during his professional career. It gathers forty-three contributions that are structured into three blocks: history of Law; general Law and personal Law; Law of obligations and contracts; Possession and Rights; Family Law; Inheritance Law; and other disciplines.
Antoni Mirambell joined the Faculty of Law of the UB as a lecturer in 1975. He was the director of the Department of Civil Law and the Department of Private Law. He was involved in the UB government, first as a vice-rector to the Rector and director of the UB Group (1999-2000) and later as ombudsman from 2006 to 2015. He conducted an important task in the Catalan Observatory of Civil Law and the Codification Commission of Civil Law of Catalonia, where he coordinated several books of Civil Code of Catalonia.
