The University of Barcelona, through the Torribera Food Campus, and TransXforma Food will promote entrepreneurship and the transfer of knowledge generated at the University in the fields of food, nutrition and gastronomy in the food and gastronomic industry. The aim is to promote innovation to provide solutions to the challenges of this sector, key to the economy and with important roots in Catalonia.
For this purpose, the Focus InnoFood UB platform is created. It will involve the participation of several companies and institutions and will base its activity on training in entrepreneurship and innovation, advice to new business projects and the promotion of university-business collaboration to generate collaborative projects with the agri-food sector. Focus InnoFood-UB will seek solutions to the main interdisciplinary R&D&I challenges of the participating companies, will promote research in the agri-food and gastronomic sector through coordinated actions between the UB and the companies, will carry out training activities in entrepreneurship and innovation, and will promote mentoring, incubation and acceleration of entrepreneurship at the UB. It will also issue reports updating market needs, trends and management development.

The launch of a food and gastronomic technology plant at the Torribera Food Campus will be another of the pillars of the collaboration. In this sense, the UB and TranXforma Food will work together to make this project a reality.

The rector of the University of Barcelona, Joan Guàrdia, has positively valued the agreement with the innovation platform: "The static university, heir to past models, has long been unsustainable. Institutions with a history know what happens when progress is not made. In this sense, the line marked with TranXforma Food is the right path to follow. Collaboration between universities and companies makes us stronger and enables us to achieve challenges more quickly".

José María Cobo, CEO of TranXforma Food, also expressed his satisfaction with the agreement: "The objective is to generate an ecosystem in which knowledge reaches the market and the market is interested in this knowledge. The university must be able to develop its projects and, at the same time, respond to the challenges of the industry".

Then, the director of the Torribera Food Campus, Carme Vidal, described the collaboration as "important" and pointed out that TranXforma Food will help to reinforce the knowledge transfer part of the food sector of the UB.

The University of Barcelona, with more than 62,000 students and 250 research groups, ranks first in the ranking of state universities, and is the reference university in research in Spain and a benchmark in Europe. It also has the Torribera Food Campus, which offers undergraduate and master's degrees and university extension courses in the field of food, nutrition and gastronomy. The Torribera Food Campus is the headquarters of the Institute for Research in Nutrition and Food Safety (INSA-UB), recognized by the Ministry of Science and Innovation as a unit of excellence María de Maeztu.

Transxforma Food SL is an initiative aimed at promoting the sustainable transformation of companies in the agri-food sector through innovation.
