The new stage of Els Vespres seduces a thousand people
Changing the location of the concerts of Els Vespres of the University of Barcelona has been a successful idea. Nearly a thousand people went to the Agustí Pedro i Pons villa, at the bottom of Vallvidrera, to enjoy good music in a unique and charismatic environment. This edition included four concerts (Carlota Flâneur, Bikôkô, Marialluïsa and Kiwis) and all the performances fulfilled the room capacity.

This edition included four concerts (Carlota Flâneur, Bikôkô, Marialluïsa and Kiwis) and all the performances fulfilled the room capacity.
The artists shared the audienceʼs fascination for the new location of the cycle. They highlighted the fact that the performance took place outside Barcelona city but at the same time, within a kind of oasis surrounded by green spaces. In fact, they confessed that when they were invited to be part of the cycle and they saw the pictures of the location, they did not think it twice.
The balance of the University of Barcelona is positive as well. The vice-rector for Cultural Activities and Heritage, Agustí Alcoberro, notes that els Vespres have reached the expectations. “Like always, we opted for talented emerging artists, and the audience, mostly young people, responded by filling the room capacity in all concerts. The location in the Agustí Pedro i Pons building enabled us to open this place, heritage of the UB, to culture. We will be back next year”, he says.
Another particularity of Els Vespres this year was that the program of the cycle was carried out by the cultural service cooperative LʼAfluent. Sergi Egea and Artur Estrada are glad “both for the success regarding the audience and the artistic and musical quality of the four concerts which, being different and having different origins, have enchanted the attendees”, they say.
In the organization, the head of the cycle and head of Corporate and Image Publicity of the UB, Lourdes Sesma, notes that “the gardens in the Agustí Pedro i Pons villa turned out to be a great place to hold this edition, marked by the pandemic, and to follow the necessary safety measures”. “The audience ─she adds─ enjoyed our music proposals and discovered a new place in Barcelona that proves to be perfect to carry out outdoor cultural events”. Sesma also values the task of the sponsors (Moritz) and LʼAfluent and Caravan Made: “without them, this edition would have not been possible”.
All the involved agents in Els Vespres are already thinking about the 2022 winter edition and the loyal audience might be already waiting for the new poster to be published.
