The call for applications for the fourth edition of the master’s degree in Global Challenges for Sustainability, offered by the European university CHARM-EU, is now open. This new edition will start in September 2024 and will last eighteen months. The transdisciplinary programme is focused on specific societal issues related to water, food and health.

The master’s degree consists of three mandatory phases. In the preparatory phase, the focus is on the acquisition of general skills, specially in the fields of sustainability, social innovation and transdisciplinary research. Then, in the flexible phase, the students select a module on water, food, or life and health. Finally, in the capstone phase, the students carry out a project on a sustainable challenge in collaboration with a partner from the social field.

With a practical and collaborative approach, the CHARM-EU master’s degree offers a unique opportunity to address the complex global challenges to sustainability. The first application period for the next edition will be open until 12 February. Those interested can now submit their application and join this community, committed to the creation of innovative solutions for a sustainable future.

There will be a Questions and Answers session (Q&A) on 5 February, to answer doubts regarding the registration. More information on this link.

The students submit their proposals to challenges presented by entities and businesses

From 31 January to 2 February, the University of Barcelona has been the host of the CHARM-EU Master’s Grand Finale 2024. In this event, the students of the second edition of the master’s degree in Global Challenges for Sustainability have presented their proposals to address specific challenges posed by several entities and businesses linked to important topics such as water, food and health management.

The students’ vision and dedication to researching innovative solutions has been outstanding: they have presented solutions related to the environmental monitoring for the reconciliation between humanity and the planet; the role of technology in improving the water-energy-food nexus in Albania, or the promotion of a sustainable circular economy in the peri-urban agricultural system in the Parc Agrari del Baix Llobregat, among others.
