Joan Guàrdia, professor of Methodology of Behavioural Sciences at the Faculty of Psychology, will take office as the Rector of the UB on Monday, 15 January, at 11.00 a.m., in a ceremony at the Parahimph of the Historic Building, which will be broadcasted on UBtv. The members of his new governing team will also take office.

Joan Guàrdia, professor of Methodology of Behavioural Sciences at the Faculty of Psychology, will take office as the Rector of the UB on Monday, 15 January, at 11.00 a.m., in a ceremony at the Parahimph of the Historic Building, which will be broadcasted on UBtv. The members of his new governing team will also take office.  
A second mandate leading the UB  

Guàrdia was re-elected as Rector with 65.89% of the weighted vote in the election that took place on 4 and 5 December. He has held this position since January 2021 and will now start a six-year mandate.  

Joan Guàrdia Olmos entered the University as a student at the Faculty of Economics and combined these studies with Psychology studies. An expert on statistics and the systematic study of human behaviour, he has taught at the Faculty of Psychology and the faculties of Pharmacy, Economics and Business, Geography and History, Nursing, Education and Biology.  

He has given seminars and courses and has supervised doctoral theses in several national and international universities. Guàrdia has published more than thirty books and more than 260 scientific papers, and has been the principal researcher of many research projects. He has held different positions in academic management, and he is now a member of the UB’s Institute of Neurosciences (UBneuro) and the Institute of Complex Systems (UBICS), where he does research on quantitative and computational research.
