The Consolidated Teaching Innovation Group on Data Analysis in Economics and Business (ANDES), which belongs to the Faculty of Economics and Business of the University of Barcelona, has been awarded the Jaume Vicens Vives Award for university teaching quality, granted by the Catalan Government. Also, the subject Women, Work and Society, from the same faculty, has been awarded the M mention. Encarna Sanahuja Y11 for excellence in the inclusion of the gender perspective in university teaching practice.
The ANDES innovation group aims to improve the teaching of bachelor’s and master’s degrees of the Faculty of Economics and Business related to statistics and data science. This group, with a long history, was recognized as a consolidated teaching innovation group in 2008. Among its lines of action is the application of strategies based on active learning and initiatives that combine different teaching innovation strategies applied to real business situations.

The subject Women, Jobs and Society aims to introduce students to a perspective of economic analysis and thought incorporating the category of gender, and to learn to assess the gender impact of public policies from their formation to their economic and social impact. In this subject, traditional approaches are questioned for their traditional androcentric view of society and the need to use new methodological approaches and new conceptualizations in economics is raised.

The Jaume Vicens Vives awards, created in 1996, aim to recognize university teaching quality, and the M. Encarna Sanahuja Yll mentions, now reaching their fifth edition, recognize excellence in the inclusion of the gender perspective in university teaching. The awardees, selected on the basis of proposals made by the boards of trustees of public universities or similar bodies in private universities in Catalonia, receive a prize of 20,000 euros each. This amount is destined to innovation or teaching improvement projects, in the case of the Jaume Vicens Vives awards, and to innovation or teaching improvement projects in the gender perspective, in the case of the M. Encarna Sanahuja Yll mentions.
