Exhibition: "La medicina en l'exèrcit romà" (Medicine in the Roman army)

30/04/24 - 06/06/24
Divulgation

The Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences inaugurates the exhibition “La medicina en l'exèrcit romà” (Medicine in the Roman army). Through more than a hundred reproductions of Roman medical instruments, owned by Juan Melchor Garcia, this exhibition shows the techniques, instruments, and spaces with which Roman military medicine was developed.

These tools are the result of the evolution of military medicine, in all its facets: from herbalism, necessary to cure a cold, to the most advanced techniques, to operate cataracts or cure migraines or epileptics.

On 11 May, as part of the Clínic Obert conference, the owner of the exhibition will give a lecture on “Els Capsarii i les seves funcions al Valetudinarivm”, at 12:00 noon, in the Paanymph Hall of the Faculty.
