Culture : Divulgation

From 13 December 2023 to 14 April 2024, the exhibition "El llegat retrobat de Juliana Morell (1594-1653)" (The rediscovered legacy of Juliana Morell), organized by the ADHUC–Research Center for Theory, Gender, Sexuality and the Barcelona City Council, and curated by Georgina Rabassó, PhD student in Philosophy at the UB, can be visited at the Pedralbes Monastery.

Juliana Morell is considered the first female doctor in history. This earned her a place in the Paranymph Hall of the University of Barcelona: she is the only Catalan woman present in the upper frieze of this prominent space. However, despite having been an icon of female scholarship for centuries, her life, work, and thought are still unknown.

The ADHUC–Research Center for Theory, Gender, Sexuality, the Mir-Puig Foundation, and the Bosch i Gimpera Foundation have collaborated to carry out research into the life and work of this humanist and Renaissance icon. «El llegat retrobat» invites us to immerse ourselves in her world and experience it with all five senses.
