Quacquarelly Symonds (QS), the author of a world university ranking, has already published several regional rankings for universities in Asia, the Arab world and in Latin America. This is the first time that it has produced a ranking exclusively for European institutions, specifically those of states belonging to the European Council.

The UB scores 98.4 out of 100 for sustainability, 96.4 for international research networks and 93.8 for academic reputation. In total, the ranking includes up to twelve indicators in the areas of research, graduate employability, learning experience, internationalization and sustainability. Overall, the University of Barcelona obtains a score of 76.
