The 4th UB Sustainability and Human Rights Poster Award recognizes two works in Nursing and one in Chemistry

Three posters made by four students from the faculties of Nursing and Chemistry have received this year’s Sustainability and Human Rights Poster Award of the University of Barcelona, coordinated by the UB Solidarity Foundation and the Institute for Professional Development (IDP-ICE). The aim of this award is to involve the university community in the dissemination and protection of human rights.

Three posters made by four students from the faculties of Nursing and Chemistry have received this year’s Sustainability and Human Rights Poster Award of the University of Barcelona, coordinated by the UB Solidarity Foundation and the Institute for Professional Development (IDP-ICE). The aim of this award is to involve the university community in the dissemination and protection of human rights.  

The three awarded pieces were Tractament d’efluents d’aigües residuals emprant clor activat per mitjà de radiació solar (Wastewater effluent treatment using activated chlorine by means of solar irradiation), by Ivan Díaz, student of Chemistry; La implementació de programes de cribratge de malalties infeccioses en la població immigrant (The implementation of infectious disease screening programs in immigrant population), by Elena Català, Nursing student; and AidNow: la herramienta esencial para prevenir lesiones no intencionadas y promover la seguridad infantil (AidNow: the essential tool to prevent unintentional injuries and promote child safety), by Cristina Ortega and Julia Pearson, Nursing students.  

The award ceremony took place this Wednesday, 8 November, in the boardroom of the Historic Building. Joan Guàrdia, Rector of the University, chaired the event, accompanied by the Vice-rector for Equal Opportunities and Gender, Montserrat Puig, and the Director of IDP-ICE, Maria Rosa Buxarrais; the awarded students also took part in the ceremony. The ceremony was scheduled around the World Science Day for Peace and Development (10 November) to emphasize the contribution of studies in improving living conditions.
