International award to the exhibition “Art Primer. Artistes de la prehistòria” curated by UB researcher Inés Domingo

This year, there were 116 nominations to the Global Fine Art Awards. Among these were projects from the main museums worldwide. The prizes are addressed to art and design exhibitions and value aspects such as the design of the exhibition, the historical contextualization, the educational value and the public appeal.

“Art Primer. Artistes de la prehistòria” presented a journey to the research of the origins of art, while it explained the Levantine cave art, one of the most original artistic expressions that emerged both in Catalonia and the rest of the peninsular Mediterranean area, more than 7,000 years ago. Organized as the closing ceremony for the 20th anniversary of the declaration of the rock art of the Mediterranean Basin on the Iberian Peninsula as world heritage by UNESCO, the exhibition presented more than two hundred objects and unique documents from the European prehistory, while it also offered many audiovisual and 3D virtual reality resources, which showed animated scenes of the prehistory, reproductions of technological processes, and the immersive visit to Roca dels Moros (les Garrigues). Inés Domingo, ICREA researcher affiliated at the Prehistoric Studies and Research Seminar (SERP) of the UB, was in charge of the exhibition together with Antonio Palomo, curator at MAC.
