The ICREA Academia programme honours twelve UB staff members

The ICREA Academia programme has awarded, in the 2023 call for applications, seven male and five female researchers at the University of Barcelona. Overall, in the Catalan university system, forty professors from different fields of knowledge have been recognised, and each will receive 40,000 euros per year for a period of five years. The UB is the institution that has received the most grants in this call.

The ICREA Academia programme has awarded, in the 2023 call for applications, seven male and five female researchers at the University of Barcelona. Overall, in the Catalan university system, forty professors from different fields of knowledge have been recognised, and each will receive 40,000 euros per year for a period of five years. The UB is the institution that has received the most grants in this call.

These grants, awarded by the Catalan Institution for Research and Advanced Studies (ICREA), aim to promote research talent in Catalan universities. 

Since its creation, the ICREA Academia programme has awarded more than 430 members of the Catalan university system with these grants, which are aimed exclusively at university teaching staff who are in a fully active and expanding phase of their research activity. 


 

The University of Barcelona is the institution that has received the most grants in this call.

UB teaching and research staff recognised in this edition: 

  • Cristina Andrés Lacueva, professor at the Department of Nutrition, Food Science and Gastronomy and at the Institute for Nutrition and Food Safety Research (INSA-UB). 

  • Guillem Aromí Bedmar, professor at the Department of Inorganic and Organic Chemistry and Director of the Institute of Nanoscience and Nanotechnology (IN2UB). 

  • Isabel Cacho Lascorz, professor at the Department of Earth and Ocean Dynamics.  

  • Encarnación Díaz León, associate professor at the Department of Philosophy and member of the Barcelona Institute of Analytic Philosophy (BIAP). 

  • Sergio Escalera Guerrero, professor at the Department of Mathematics and Computer Science and member of the Mathematics Institute of the UB (IMUB). 

  • Jacob González-Solís Bou, professor at the Department of Evolutionary Biology, Ecology and Environmental Sciences, and member of the UB Biodiversity Research Institute (IRBio). 

  • Marcel Guàrdia, professor in the Department of Mathematics and Computer Science. 

  • Rosa Lamuela Raventós, professor at the Department of Nutrition, Food Science and Gastronomy and at the Institute for Nutrition and Food Safety Research (INSA-UB). 

  • Noemí Pereda Beltran, professor at the Department of Clinical Psychology and Psychobiology. 

  • Fèlix Ritort Farran, professor at the Department of Condensed Matter Physics and member of the Institute of Nanoscience and Nanotechnology (IN2UB). 

  • Pere Roca-Cusachs Soulere, professor at the Department of Biomedicine and researcher at the Institute for Bioengineering of Catalonia (IBEC). 
     
  • Pietro Tierno, professor at the Department of Condensed Matter Physics and member of the Institute of Complex Systems (UBICS).
