Last Friday, the rector of the University of Barcelona, Joan Guàrdia, received the honorary doctorate award from the University of Montpellier. Rector Augé qualified as a “great honour” awarding the honorary doctorate to Rector Guàrdia, and highlighted his brilliant academic career in the field of psychology. Also, he highlighted the efforts the UB and the University of Montpellier are making to build the future of higher education.

In his speech, Joan Guàrdia said that “the university of the future is not conceivable without an integrating conception that allows for a global impact”. “The European university space is the best evidence —he said—. Europe is the university, the universities are European: they are inseparable, this is a consolidated reality”.

With Guàrdia visiting the French city, both institutions signed a framework agreement to carry out new common projects in the framework of the excellence programme I-SITE Nourrir-Protéger-Soigner (feed, protect, treat).
