This initiative is part of the events leading up to Europe Day on 9 May and tells the stories of these seven women, who are true role models: resistance fighters and survivors of the Holocaust, as well as outstanding professionals in the political, scientific and cultural spheres. Many of them worked to overcome the horrors of the two world wars and contributed to promoting the fundamental values of the EU, both in the European institutions themselves and in political activism. Some were members of the European Parliament, and Veil and Fontaine became presidents of the European Parliament. All of them represented the European values of equality, freedom, democracy, solidarity, diversity and respect for human rights.
