Screening of 'Freedom of Fire', documentary on the war in Ukraine and dialogue with film director Evgeny Afineevsky

The Aula Ramón y Cajal of the Historic Building of the University of Barcelona will host, on 7 March at 11.00 a.m., the screening of the documentary Freedom on Fire, about the war in Ukraine. It will be followed by a dialogue with the film director, the Israeli-American cinematographer Evgeny Afineevsky. This event aims to raise awareness about this Eastern Europe country after two years of war since the Russian troops attacked the country in February 2022.

The Aula Ramón y Cajal of the Historic Building of the University of Barcelona will host, on 7 March at 11.00 a.m., the screening of the documentary Freedom on Fire, about the war in Ukraine. It will be followed by a dialogue with the film director, the Israeli-American cinematographer Evgeny Afineevsky. This event aims to raise awareness about this Eastern Europe country after two years of war since the Russian troops attacked the country in February 2022.   
Evgeny Afineevsky was born in Russia in 1972 and has resided in the United States for more than twenty years. He is the producer of another film on Ukraine, called Winter on Fire, which premiered in 2015 and was nominated for an Academy Award (Oscars) for best Documentary Feature and for the Emmy Awards. 

The film the UB screens now, Freedom on Fire, premiered in 2022 at the Venice International Film Festival. The documentary has been awarded in several international festivals and has been screened in many capital cities with the support of Ukraine. Afineevsky is also the author of the documentary Cries from Syria (2017), about the war that started in 2011 in the Near East.
