The presentation of the event will be carried out by the rector, Joan Guàrdia.
The Cuelgamuros Valley, named by the Franco regime as the Valley of the Fallen, hosts the pharaonic tomb built by the regime during the forties and fifties. The facility, which had the bodies of the dictator Franco and José Antonio Primo de Rivera, has now more than 33,000 bodies, of which more than 10,000 correspond to republican fighters from mass graves throughout Spain.

On 26 January 2023, a year ago, the University organized a tribute to those people of the university community who had been retaliated against by the Franco regime. A ceremony dedicated to everyone who experienced exile, prison or other punishments for having defended freedom and democratic values during the darkest times of our recent history.

On 26 January 1939, a squad of Francoist soldiers took possession of the Historic Building. On 3 February, the Official Gazette of the Government of Spain cancelled the university's autonomy and a long period of repression began at the University. It is estimated that, between exile, repression and purges, the UB had lost 71.38% of the teaching staff in the academic year 1939-1940.
