SonaUB musical competition

The competition is open to groups and artists with original compositions of their creation with a minimum duration of thirty minutes, with or without published albums and with at least one member belonging to the UB community (students enrolled in the academic year 2023-2024, PTGAS, PDI and staff of the UB Group). To participate, it is necessary to have UB credentials (ID and password). Only one musical proposal per group can be submitted. 

The period for submitting compositions is from 24 April to 19 May. An evaluation committee will choose ten semi-finalists. The committee is made up of the following people: 

• Laura Rosel, Director of Communication at the University of Barcelona, journalist with a long experience in the main Catalan media. 

• The journalist and music critic Jordi Bianciotto i Clapés. 

• The founder and director of the record label Hidden Track Records, Louise Joanne Sansom. 

• Teresa Vives, designated member by L’Afluent, a cultural services cooperative with a long history in cultural management. 

Among the selection criteria, special consideration will be given to the originality of the musical proposals, the work on new formats, the expressiveness and originality of the lyrics, the ability to communicate and connect with the audience and the use of the Catalan language. 

The resulting proposals will be put to a popular vote by members of the UB community between 5 and 10 June. The four proposals that receive the most votes will be declared the winners and will be announced on 11 June. 

The prize consists of performing in one of the concerts of Els Vespres d’Estiu on 9, 11, 16 and 18 July 2024 in the Historic Building. It includes a promotional photo shoot and advice on the technical production of the concert.
