Carpooling, the new way to get to the University of Barcelona
The launch of this project aims to give the members of the UB a chance to meet other people to share their car on their daily journeys and share the expenses now that the cost of fuel has increased. They will also save some time and will reduce the traffic jam, they will avoid polluting emissions and optimize parking spaces.
The UB is committed to the environment and the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), a leader regarding sustainability, and it promotes sustainable and collaborative mobility. Thanks to this initiative, it is expected to save more than 500,000 kg of CO₂, the same amount of emissions that would be absorbed in a year by 20,000 trees, and more than 360,000 euros, which would be equivalent to saving more than 7,000 tanks of gasoline.
Moreover, the UB community users will get some extra benefits: they will be able to use the Hoop Carpool app without commissions, and drivers who share a car through the app, with origin or destination at the University, will receive gas checks of 10 or 20 euros if they share 10 or 20 trips per month. To take advantage of these benefits, simply download the Hoop Carpool app, register and enter your UB email address.
During the weeks of 2 and 9 October, from 9.00 a.m. to 5.00 p.m., Hoop Carpool will conduct informative sessions in several faculties, to inform about the service and solve doubts:

- Faculties of Physics and Chemistry: 5 October
- Mundet Campus: 9 October
- Food and Nutrition Torribera Campus: 10 October
