The boardroom of the Historical Building of the University of Barcelona was the setting for the presentation of the UB Forestadent Chair in Digital Orthodontics. The collaboration between the two institutions aims to promote teaching and research in this field of dentistry, in order to optimise clinical outcomes and improve patient health. Among the attendants in the event were the rector of the University of Barcelona, Joan Guàrdia; the general director of Forestadent, Stefan Foerster, and the director of the chair, Josep Maria Ustrell.

As part of the chair, the results of occlusion obtained using orthodontic tools (braces, aligners, etc.) will be promoted, as well as the collaboration in teaching innovation in orthodontics or the design of new products and tools applicable to contemporary orthodontic care.

The director of the chair and vice-dean of Dentistry at the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences of the UB said that this initiative "is an important step towards strengthening an essential area of dentistry today: digital orthodontics". "Patients must be the main beneficiaries of the actions we are initiating with this chair. Their satisfaction is our goal", said Ustrell.

Then, the CEO of Forestadent, one of the world's leading suppliers of orthodontic products, explained the company’s goals. “We are committed to innovation, which is why we are now focusing on the digitalization of our services —said Foerster—. To us, this is the future, which is why I am very proud of this chair with the University of Barcelona".

Finally, the rector of the University welcomed the collaboration between the two institutions: "Our challenge is to step into spaces that no one else has stepped into, which means breaking new ground and doing research. We are an institution that pushes the barrier of knowledge further and further, and the best way to do this is in good company. That is why I am grateful to Forestadent for having joined us”.

Among the attendees was the vice-rector for Entrepreneurship, Innovation and Transfer, Mercè Segarra, as well as academic authorities, teaching staff, students of the master's degree in Orthodontics and representatives of Forestadent.
