The Bosch i Gimpera Foundation (FBG), the University of Barcelona's centre for knowledge transfer, technology and innovation, will be celebrating its 40th anniversary this year. To celebrate it, it will hold an event in the Paranymph Hall of the Historic Building of the University of Barcelona on Monday 16 October at 6.00 p.m., which will be broadcast live on UBtv.

The Foundation is a pioneer in the Spanish university system, and has been a key player in supporting research and innovation at the UB and in promoting collaboration with the business world and society. The celebration of the Foundation's 40th anniversary will be an event that will reflect the dedication and success of this organisation in promoting research and innovation at the UB. At the same time, it will also provide a glimpse into the future to discover the new challenges and opportunities facing the University's transfer.

During the event, a roundtable will be held on the importance of knowledge transfer, the benefits and challenges of this process, as well as the impact it has on innovation, economic development and the welfare of citizens. The vice-rector for Entrepreneurship, Innovation and Transfer and professor of the Faculty of Chemistry, Mercè Segarra; the professor of the Faculty of Biology and co-founder of the spin-off Bluephage, Anicet Blanch; and the professor of the Faculty of Education, Verónica Violant, will participate in the roundtable.

Social and economic development of the territory

Over the last four decades, the FBG has worked to transfer the research results generated at the UB to society, whether through contract research, the creation of spin-off companies or the commercialisation of technologies, materials and licences. Its commitment to promoting research and technology transfer has contributed significantly to the socio-economic development of the region.

In the framework of its 40th anniversary, the FBG reaffirms its commitment to continue promoting interdisciplinary collaboration and knowledge transfer, seeking to build a future in which innovation and research remain key drivers for social and economic progress.
