The book Autoctonía, poder local y espacio global frente a la noción de ciudadanía (UBʼs Publications and Editions Service) aims to update the concepts used in contemporary ethnography and in particular in the study of indigenous peoples. The work, which includes a series of conferences with the same name which were held in Barcelona in 2010, reflects upon the relationships and the processes of these research fields.

The book, edited by Gemma Orobitg and Gemma Celigueta, professors of the Department of Cultural Anthropology and the History of America and Africa at the UB, includes chapters on power relationsandindigenous women; indigenous territorialities; religionand ideology; indigenous citizenship, and nationalmythologies. The main contributionof the book is to demonstrate how changes in the relationship between indigenous peoples and the State should lead to review, and even rethink, the perspectives, questions and discussions on these social and cultural realities. Since thebook is the result of aseries of conferences, the work does not onlycollectstudies by several researchers, but also the debate that arose after their public presentation.
