On Thursday 17 October, the president of the Government of Catalonia, Artur Mas, attended the opening ceremony of the academic year 2013-2014 of the University School of Hotel Management and Tourism (CETT-UB) and visited the new facilities of the centre, which include the latest advances in technological and education innovation. The event was also attended by the rector of the UB, Dídac Ramírez; the president of CETT Group, Miquel Alsius; the general manager of CETT-UB, Maria Abellanet, and the honorary president of the Foundation Gaspar Espuña-CETT, Gaspar Espuña.

On Thursday 17 October, the president of the Government of Catalonia, Artur Mas, attended the opening ceremony of the academic year 2013-2014 of the University School of Hotel Management and Tourism (CETT-UB) and visited the new facilities of the centre, which include the latest advances in technological and education innovation. The event was also attended by the rector of the UB, Dídac Ramírez; the president of CETT Group, Miquel Alsius; the general manager of CETT-UB, Maria Abellanet, and the honorary president of the Foundation Gaspar Espuña-CETT, Gaspar Espuña.

The rector of the UB, Dr Dídac Ramírez emphasized that "there is plenty of work to do in the service of Catalonia, hotel management and tourism", and he expressed his pleasure with the collaboration between UB and CETT. Moreover, Miquel Alsius stated that "with an experience of about 45 years, we can affirm that our model is successful". "Life only can be understood looking backwards, but we must also look forward", said Alsius concerning the opening of new facilities and the new degree that will be set up next academic year.

The president of the Government of Catalonia, Artur Mas, congratulated CETT-UB on the work that it has been carrying out since it was set up, at the end of the sixties. He defined it as "a complete campus in the field of tourism that gathers university, research and business". According to Mas, tourism has become the main economic activity in Catalonia —not exclusive—, and it strengthens the country, he affirmed that education centres like CETT-UB are making it possible. "When we think about California, the first thing that comes to our mind is Silicon Valley. However, California is an important leader in tourism now. The most modern countries base their economic activity on tourism, so we must continue working on this line", pointed out the President.

CETT has invested 3.5 million euros in extending and renovating its headquarters. It has included the most modern technical facilities and technological resources to meet the needs of an increasing number of international students (116% more in the last five years), as well as sensory rooms and interactive and demonstration ones.

Moreover, Ferran Adrià has chosen this new lecture room building to be the location of UB-Bullipedia.CETT Unit that will coordinate the participation of worldwide official education centres in Bullipedia project.

CETT is an international centre for education and knowledge transfer in hotel, tourism management and gastronomy, affiliated with the UB. It offers vocational training, Bachelor's degrees, postgraduate courses, masterʼs degrees and lifelong learning for professional and companies. With an experience of more than forty years, CETT has become an international reference. CETT Group is composed by Hotel Alimara, Àgora BCN - University Student Residence, Viatges Century and the firms CETT Consultors and Barcelona Academic Services (BAS).
