From January 31 to March 31, 2017, more than 32.000 Catalan university graduates will be surveyed to gather information about their employability, in this sixth edition of the study carried out in all public and private Catalan universities and affiliated centers, by the Catalan University Quality Assurance Agency (AQU Catalunya). According to data from the previous survey (in 2014), a 83% of graduates from the University of Barcelona fond a job three years after finishing their studies. This figure is higher than the 77% of the total employability of people aged between 25 and 44 (data from labour force survey) and keeps pinpointing the fact that having university studies is positive factor when searching for a job.

The survey by AQU is carried out every three years (2001, 2005, 2008, 2011 and 2014) and its main aim is to gather information at a graduate scale to improve the syllabus of the study offerings. The survey asks about factors such as employability (employment/unemployment, the time it takes to find the first job, pathways into employability, field of work, branches of activity, etc.), occupational quality (study-job relation, tasks, recruitment factors, contractual status, annual salary, job satisfaction, etc.) and satisfaction regarding the studies (acquired skills, usefulness at work, will to study the same degree, mobility, etc.).

There have been more than 80.000 entries registered in the study among the fifth editions so far. This figure shows that Catalonia has one of the most large, complete and representative database in Europe regarding this field.

This editionʼs survey will question 14% more people than in 2014. Also, for the first time and on a pilot basis, the institutions teaching art studies equal to bachelor studies under the Department of Education of the Generalitat de Catalunya -will also participate in the survey.

The cohorts to be covered by the survey are: bachelor students who finished their studies in 2013 (except for studies of Medicine, which are from 2010); students of higher-education diplomas equals to bachelor degrees, who finished the studies in 2013 and 2014; students of master degrees who finished the studies in 2012 and 2013; and PhD students who read their doctoral theses in 2012 and 2013.

The total reference population to be surveyed is of almost 63.000 people and its estimated sample is expected to be more than 32.000 people.

The results are expected to be published in July, 2017.
