Salvador Maluquer, new general director of the Barcelona Science Park

Salvador Maluquer has a degree in Economics from the University of Barcelona and an Executive Masters in Public Administration (EMPA) from ESADE. From 1981 to present, he has pursued his career in the administration of the Generalitat de Catalunya, where he has held various positions and responsibilities, including being General of the Budget Office (2004-2012). He was formerly Head of the Technical Office of the Department of Universities, Research and Information Society (2000-2004) and Head of Planning Division of the Directorate General of Economic Planning of the Department of Economics and Finance (1993-2000).

As an expert in budget planning and management, regional development, European funds financing and promotion of R+D policies, Salvador Maluquer has published several books and articles on these subjects, and has participated in academic activities at the University of Barcelona as well as in other academic institutions.

Salvador Maluquer has also been a member of the governing bodies of different organisations within the public sector, such as the Construction Consortium, Equipment Provision and Exploitation at the Synchroton Light Laboratory (ALBA), the Consortium Barcelona Biomedical Research Park (PRBB), the Hospital Clínico Provincial de Barcelona (HCPB), or the Catalan Institute of Finances, among others.

The rector and president of the foundation board of the PCB, Dídac Ramirez, thanked the new director general for his acceptance and commitment to this new assignment. Dídac Ramirez also praised the outstanding work carried out by the previous general director, Dr. Fernando Albericio, and thanked him for his total dedication over the years during which he held office (2005-2012). He put special emphasis on the activity undertaken by Dr. Albericio as a key promoter of this project, and highlighted Dr. Albericio´s strong contribution to the creation of a network of science parks, both at Catalan, Spanish and international level. Dr. Albericio´s good management in the RedEmprendia did not go unnoticed, positioning the Barcelona Science Park as a reference benchmark in the fostering of the relationships between university, business and society.
