A new meeting of the Governance Committee of the Barcelona Knowledge Campus (BKC), the campus of international excellence promoted by the University of Barcelona (UB) and the Technical University of Catalonia (UPC), took place on 6th March. The rector of the UB, Dr Dídac Ramírez, and the rector of the UPC, Dr Antoni Giró, took part in the event in which the Informe de progrés i avaluació del BKC (Report of BKC progress and evaluation) for the period 2011-2012 was presented.

The event was also attended by representatives of affiliated institutions, such as José García Puga, manager of Les Corts district, and Lluís Calvo, Catalan delegate of the Spanish National Research Council (CSIC).

During the meeting, the rectorʼs delegate of the UB, Manuel Barranco, and the rectorʼs delegate of the UPC, Francesc Solé, analysed several aspects described in the Informe de progrés i avaluació del BKC, as well as the activities planned for 2013 and the possible recommendations to success in next evaluations. In this sense, for the next years it is expected to participate in a plan which includes the new challenges that the BKC will have to face, and studies the collaborative agreements and the services that should be integrated in the campus in order to make it more efficient.

The Governance Committee and other governance bodies of the BKC aim to strengthen the idea of participative and cooperative government. The participation of different groups (university, business, institutional, government, citizens) in BKC coordination and management can contribute to place the international excellence of the campus.
