The UB in Figures provides a four-page summary of the main magnitudes of this university and its academic performance, as well as information on its evolution over the years. The University of Barcelona offers an easy-read report with the presentation of the University which can be used in conferences and meetings both national and internationally.
This yearʼs report, for instance, shows how in the academic year 2018/2019 the UB kept the figures of more than 10,300 students per bachelor degree, which is the 32 % of the total students of the public university system in Catalonia. Another fact stated in this edition is how fundraising for research has increased: 133,838 thousand euros in 2018, compared to the 88,326 thousand in 2017 and 107,326 in 2016.
Among the teaching-related indicators is the rate of bachelor and master degree studentsʼ performance: 84% passed credits out of the total of enrolled ones, in bachelor degrees, and 95 % in master degrees. The teaching activity is shown with the figures of the students under faculties and knowledge areas plus data such as the lecturersʼs evaluation by these students. The enrolled students of bachelor degrees assess the teaching staff with a score of 7.35 out of 10, while master degree students give the teaching staff a score of 7.83.
In research, the report explains the 877 active research projects and 541 doctoral theses, as well as the figure of 107 entities in the Barcelona Science Park. Regarding the activity in Bosch i Gimpera Foundation, the report stresses, among other things, that they have signed 719 contracts.
Other data in the report is, for instance, the 682,800 square meters of the surface for the several centers of the University of the distribution of income and costs of the 386,110.607 euro budget. Moreover, there are figures to provide an idea of the UB internationalization, such as the 1,888 international students from exchange programs in the academic year 2018/2019, and the 1,386 UB students in international centers during the same period. The chapter on services notes the monography fund of the CRAI Library is 1,773.469 Another piece of information is the people who took part in UB Volunteering activities: more than 2,000.
The UB in Figures aims to be used by the governing bodies and all the members of the university community. Also, it is a letter of introduction for the visitors at the Historical Building, who can get copies in the main hall. At the moment, 1,100 copies of The UB in Figures are published in Catalan, 750 in Spanish and 1,650 in English.
