The University of Barcelona is still the top university in Spain the Ranking Web of Universities (Webometrics). The UB holds the 31st position in Europe and the 127th worldwide. This list, made by the Cibermetrics Laboratory, from the Spanish National Research Council (CSIC), measures all websites from the more than 20,000 universities worldwide regarding their presence and impact online. The objective is for these web indicators to assess the global activity of the institutions.
The top five positions of the ranking in Spain are held by the Complutense University of Madrid, the Autonomous University of Barcelona, the University of Valencia and the University of Granada. Regarding indicators, the University of Barcelona holds the 68th position in presence, 189th in impact, 170th in transparency, and 123rd in excellence.
