The University of Barcelona developed, on 8th May, the multimedia project “24 h at the UB”, a pioneer initiative in Spain. The aim of the project is to show the activity occurred at the University during one day, on a website which collects all the messages sent by university community members.

More than 400 messages published —which include photographs, videos and texts—prove the participation success of the project. On 8th May, around 30 % of the messages were received through Twitter, and 70 % by means of the form which could be found on the projectʼs website.

The whole university community was involved in the project. Received messages show activities carried out in every faculty of the UB, as well as the daily work of several services of the University, the affiliated centres and the UB Group. Messages describing University life created by students, UB associations, former international students, and administrative and service staff were published too. Research was also represented by means of the messages sent by researchers and UB research groups and centres.

The website “24 h at the UB” was built throughout 8th May as messages were received, and it is still active as a presentation of the institution. Any person interested can surf the website and get information. In the section Visita ràpida, a summary of the most important messages can be found; and in Missatges per tipus, visitors can select what they want to watch and read: videos, photos, tweets or text messages. Finally, all the messages ordered by arrival time can be seen through the pull-down menu located on the upper part.
