From the 4th to 7th of October, the Historical Building of the University of Barcelona will hold the Gaudí Second World Congress, a biennial event organized by The Gaudí Research Institute (TGRI) and the University of Barcelona. During the congress, the researcher Xavier Jové, together with the forensic doctors Narcís Bardalet and María José Adserías, will show some unpublished images related to Gaudí, such as the photo of the young architect in the Rambla de Barcelona or a picture of a tower of Sagrada Família with an outstanding geometric cupola that would have been part of the birth façade and which Gaudí probably ruled out. The gaudinian biographer Josep Maria Tarragona will show an unknown work by the architect which is located at the district of Gràcia in Barcelona.

This congress is preceded by some conferences that took place in Shanghai from the 21st to 23rd June with the support of Chinese institutions such as the Central Academy of Fine Arts or the China Cultural Media Group. In the last one there was the participation of scientists from several Chinese universities. Barcelona will have the attendance of experts such as Benedetta Tagliablue -who will chair the congress-, Maria Antonietta Crippa, Jordi Bonet, Leonid Demyanov, Arnold Walz or Tokutoshi Torii.

During the congress -especially focused on Parc Güell and Torre Bellesguard- the first works launched by the Antoni Gaudí Chair -under the supervision of Professor Adolfo Sotelo Vázquez- will be shown. They show the leadership and collaboration of the University of Barcelona and The Gaudí Research Institute in the consolidation of the research and dissemination of this great multidisciplinary architect. The chair is sponsored by Aprende Formación (IMF group) and Gaudí Barcelona Projects, promoter of this congress.

In the congress, the hall of the Historical Building will have an exhibition of twelve photographs of La Pedrera rooftop, taken by Manuel Armengol and printed in big size.

The University of Barcelona held the first world congress dedicated to Antoni Gaudí in 2014, with around 350 attendants from around the world, with prestigious researchers and scholars. This year they will give homage to three of the main collaborators in these events, who passed away in 2015: the architects Frei Otto and Josep M. Bosch Aymerich, and the engineer Ricard Morell Viñas.
