Psychiatrist Eduard Vieta, appointed Honorary Doctorate by the University of Valencia

On Monday June 17, Eduard Vieta, Professor from the Department of Medicine, was awarded the honorary doctorate at the University of Valencia (UV). Over the course of the event, presided by the Rector of the University of Valencia, Esteban Morcillo, Professor Rafael Tabares from the UV read the laudatory speech.

On Monday June 17, Eduard Vieta, Professor from the Department of Medicine, was awarded the honorary doctorate at the University of Valencia (UV). Over the course of the event, presided by the Rector of the University of Valencia, Esteban Morcillo, Professor Rafael Tabares from the UV read the laudatory speech.

Eduard Vieta Pascual (Barcelona, 1963) is lecturer in Psychiatry and Psychobiology at the University of Barcelona, Head of the Psychiatry and Psychobiology Service of the Clinic Hospital of Barcelona, and scientific sub-Director of the CIBER of Mental Health (CIBERSAM).

Graduated in Medicine at the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona and holding a doctorate in Medicine and Surgery at the University of Barcelona, awarded Dcotor, he has been visiting lecturer at Harvard University (United States) and Counsellor of the European Presidency on neuroscience research.

His research, published in more than 600 scientific articles and 32 books, has been focused on the causes and drug and psychological treatments of bipolar disorder. Doctor Vietaʼs work has received a lot of honours, such as the awards Colvin Price and Mogens Schou Award. He is part of the “Most influential scientific minds” list, created by Thompson Reuters.
