Is true that adʼs music has an influence on our brain activity and promotes certain behaviours? Next Thursday, 11th April, the expert in Neuromarketing Manuel Garcia participates in the second neuroconcert planned within the project NeuroUB. The session takes place at 7 p.m. in Cinemas Girona (173 Girona Street, Barcelona).

In this session, entitled “Ús i abús: música, percepció i persuasion” (Use and abuse: music, perception and persuasion), Manuel Garcia Garcia and the expert on music Rubén López Cano (Higher School of Music of Catalonia, ESMUC) explain, by means of examples, what neuronal processes are involved in a personʼs behaviour when facing certain advertising strategies related to music. The activity will be accompanied by the music played by Cento Carbó (drums), Jordi Rodríguez (percussion), Cris Ases (voice) and Guillem Torà (guitar).

Manuel Garcia Garcia is the Neuroscience Director at Nielsen NeuroFocus, in San Francisco (USA), a company leader in developing innovative methods for understanding consumer thought, emotion and behaviour. He holds a PhD in Cognitive Neuroscience from the UB and he worked as a researcher at NYU Medical Centre and Rockefeller University in New York. He has also collaborated with the University of Singapore and the Institute of Neurobiology of the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences.

NeuroUB: Neuroscience, Music and Art is a science disseminating project born to celebrate the designation of the year 2012 as the Year of Neuroscience in Spain and aims at fostering the social interest in neurosciences.
