The ninth edition of Els Vespres de la UB starts
Next Tuesday 1 July, the ninth edition of Els Vespres of UB begins. This year, Gadjo offers the first concert of this musical proposal for summer nights organised by the University of Barcelona. Els Vespres de la UB is a consolidated cultural summer proposal in the city of Barcelona that gains popularity every year. The ninth edition is sponsored by Estrella Damm.
Els Vespres de la UB is a six-concert series that takes place in the gardens of the Historic Building of the University of Barcelona. The initiative promotes culture and music and gives support to emerging Catalan artists and musicians.
Concerts take place on Tuesday and Thursday during the first three weeks in July, at 9 p.m. Entrance is free but seats are limited.
Programme of Els Vespres 2014
On Tuesday 1, the series is opened by Gadjo; then, on Thursday 3, Joan Colomo “Solo Show” goes up on the stage. Ferran Palau performs on Tuesday 8, and Los Sobrinos do it on Thursday 10. Finally, Renaldo & Clara give a concert on Tuesday 15 and Ian Sala closes the series on Thursday 17.
Els Vespres de la UB has already become a tool to promote emergent groups. Manel, Mishima, Sanjosex and Las Migas are some of the groups who went up on the stage of Els Vespres before being popular.
The groups that participate in the ninth edition come from different parts of Catalonia (Lleida, Esparreguera, Roses, Barcelona and Montseny). They are nearly completely unknown, but they have a great future ahead of them. Among them, we highlight Ferran Palau and Ian Sala.
A bar will be installed in the gardens of UB. It opens at 6 p.m. The bar will become a new gastronomic space thanks to Estrella Damm and Caravan Made.
Els Vespres of the UB are organised by Agost Produccions. On social networks, Els Vespres will offer promotions and prizes during the next three weeks.
