The Faculty of Law has organized the first edition of the Cinema Sessions about Refugees at the University of Barcelona. The program includes three films that touch on the reality of the refugees in different contexts. These films will be screened on Fridays, March 24 and 31 and April 7, from 14 to 16h at the room 28 of the Faculty, entrance is free. Collaborators are UB Solidarity Foundation and the International Environmental Cinema Festival (FICMA), which offers the last film.

These films will be screened on Fridays, March 24 and 31 and April 7, from 14 to 16h at the room 28 of the Faculty, entrance is free. The sessions start this Friday, March 24, with Las tortugas también vuelan (Iran, Iraq and France, 2004). The film narrates the story of a group of kids in a refugee camp in Iraq the previous days of the military intervention of the United States against Saddam Hussein regime. The second session, on March 31, will be Pequeñas mentiras piadosas (Cuba, Spain and Italy, 2014), with the attendance of its director, Niccolò Bruna. The documentary follows the steps of Lourdes, aged 58, after helping hundreds of Cubans traveling to the States, she can get a visa to visit her dying mother in Miami. The sessions will finish on April 7 with Astral (Spain, 2016), the story of the ceded sailboat by a businessman to the NGO Proactiva Open Arms in order to make security and safety missions to central Mediterranean sea. The documentary, created by the team of the TV show Salvados (La Sexta) was awarded with Sol dʼOr Especial in the last edition of FiCMA.
