Under the title “The sentence by the Supreme Court: juridical analysis”, the session will be chaired by the dean of the Faculty of Law, Xavier Pons. This activity will also hold the presentation of the volume published by Editions and Publications of the UB which gathers the first three sessions of the first edition of the cycle #DebatsUB, which took place in June and September from last year. In particular, the book compiles the opening session: “El compromiso político del pensamiento en las sociedades plurals. Una reflexión sobre el conflicto catalán”, by the philosopher Daniel Innerarity, the session “Reflexió històrica al voltant dʼunes relacions complexes”, with the conference by Jordi Casassas, professor of History at the UB and “Els factors econòmics i financers en la relació entre Catalunya i Espanya”, with the talk by Antoni Castells, professor of Economics at the UB and former minister of Economy and Finance at the Catalan Government. The books corresponding to the other sessions of the cycle will be soon published. “This publication responds to the Rectorʼs team will of writing down that which we believed was right in such hard times: promoting debate and dialogue”, notes the vice-rector for Equality and Social Action, Maite Vilalta.

Debats UB respond to the Universityʼs will of becoming a meeting point for the different sensitivities in our society and promoting debate and the use of words to favour the understanding, comprehension of conflicts and contribute to their solution. Also, it provides an academic view of social issues that worry citizens, giving elements for analysis and promoting collective reflection.
