The Summer Language Study Stay in Barcelona combines courses in Catalan language and culture with a programme of leisure activities, language exchanges and conversation groups with students from the UB. Therefore, participants will be able to improve and practise their language skills while they take the best advantage of the city in the summertime.

Students come from Germany, England, Argentina, Belgium, Scotland, Finland, France, Hungary, Italy, Poland, Czech Republic, Russia, Serbia and Ukraine. They will be divided into two groups according to their level: elementary or intermediate; they will attend 50 classroom hours with specialised teachers from the Language Services of the UB.  Courses of Catalan language and culture take place in the Aulari of the Faculty of Philology of the UB. Leisure activities include, for example, a Catalan cooking workshop, a modernisme route and a visit to Antoni Tàpies Foundation. On Friday 26 July, activities will be closed on a ceremony chaired by Gemman Fonrodona, vice-rector for Students and Language Policy of the UB, and Vicenç Villatoro, director of the Institue Ramon Llull.

The language study stay is part of the programme for students of Catalan language and culture abroad of the Institute Ramon Llull, which also includes the 12th Catalan Language University Campus, a cooperative project organised together with the Government of Andorra.
