In line with the new mental health plans and the latest European legislative projects, the postgraduate programme in Psychotherapy with Children and Adolescents in Clinical and Educational Areas addresses the needs of children from a holistic and integrative perspective, considering the various environments and systems where development takes place: family, school, society, culture, economy, etc.

Objectives and competences

Objectives

- To learn the principles and mechanisms involved in the structuring of the psychic apparatus throughout the various stages of development, as well as the possible obstacles that may hinder this process and its effects.
- To master the fundamentals of psychodynamic psychopathology to understand the current symptoms that affect children and young people and to be able to make a complete diagnosis that takes into account both the subjectivity or internal structure and the interactions with the various systems or environments involved, with the objective of answering the needs of children, young people and their families.
- To acquire a general understanding of the various resources and institutions involved in the health and well-being of children and adolescents, taking in the specificity of the work in each service and the real context of care.
- To observe and acquire a clinical perspective through placement, learning professional dynamics and understanding the lines of action and therapeutic models of the various professional environments involved in the well-being of children.

- Graduates in psychology, medicine, educational psychology, teacher training, nursing and other areas of health and education.
- Health professionals.
- Professionals in the field of education and teaching.

Access requirements and conditions

The course is also open to students with no prior university education, who will acquire the same knowledge and skills and receive a specific qualification for their learner group. Information on the access requirements and other conditions can be obtained from the course directors.
