Objectives and competences

Advanced university course 'Territorial Peacebuilding and Reconstruction of the Social Fabric' offered by the UB in collaboration with the University of Antioquia in Colombia. The course takes place in Medellín, in north-west Colombia. It is intended for peace and human rights defenders with a background in social and political leadership and is designed to provide them with the theoretical and practical skills needed to change the reality of violence through developing, implementing and actively participating in plans, projects, actions and initiatives for peace and territorial development.

Objectives and competences

Objectives

General objective:
To contribute to training participants to understand the problems of political and economic conflicts and to find ways to build alternatives for political solutions and to transform realities through productive, cultural and organizational initiatives with restorative, remedial, community and territorial reintegration content that contributes to building peace and territorial development.

Specific objectives: - To consolidate an understanding of human rights and democracy among peasant populations in the north-west of Colombia.
- To identify the requirements, roles and functions of the different actors involved in TOAR.
- To devise conceptual designs for collective projects with an impact on the restaurant business and a corrective function in different regions.
- To identify actions on the part of victims, signatories and the community in general committed to territorial peace-building.

Recommended applicant profile

The course is aimed at Peace Signatories of the Efraín Guzmán Federation, victims and farmers from the north-western region of Colombia.

Access requirements and conditions

The course is also open to students with no prior university education, who will acquire the same knowledge and skills and receive a specific qualification for their learner group. Information on the access requirements and other conditions can be obtained from the course directors.
