Objectives and competences

This programme contextualizes the importance of environmental education and governance for sustainability in the face of challenges such as the climate emergency and the biodiversity crisis. Students learn to design and write environmental education projects and to propose and manage environmental volunteering and citizen participation projects. Participants explore scenarios for conducting educational activities, learn what resources and equipment are needed, define tools for evaluating environmental education programmes and projects, and acquire professional communication techniques to effectively convey messages.

Objectives

- To contextualise environmental education and governance for sustainability in the climate emergency, the biodiversity crisis and other planetary challenges.
- To define the conceptual framework of environmental education or education for sustainability, communication and citizen participation in the area of environment and sustainability.
- To acquire the basic tools to design and draw up environmental education projects and resources.
- To gain knowledge on how to establish and manage environmental and citizen participation projects.
- Know the different scenarios where educational tasks can take place.
- To learn about and learn how to identify and analyse resources and equipment that can be used in environmental education now and in the future.
- Acquire the tools to assess environmental education programmes and projects.
- To acquire a professional understanding of effective communication techniques.
- Acquire the knowledge and skills to draw up and implement an environmental communication plan.
- To define the strategies required to consolidate society's deep commitment to sustainability via participation.
- Learn the different techniques and tools to mediate in and resolve environmental conflicts.
- To acquire the theoretical knowledge and practical competence to reflect critically on contemporary reality, taking an objective and open-minded approach.

Recommended applicant profile

- Holders of bachelor's degrees, pre-EHEA degrees and diplomas, engineering degrees and technical engineering degrees.
- Professionals with a knowledge of the environment who are looking to specialize in environmental management, renewable energy, environmental education, communication and participation.

Students who do not hold a university degree will earn an advanced university diploma.

Access requirements and conditions
