Objectives and competences

This short specialization course consists of a set of theoretical-practical seminars selected from among those offered to students in the second year of the master's in Drug Addiction. It is aimed at professionals with extensive experience in drug addiction who can compensate for the lack of basic training they will not have received by not having participated in the first year of the master's programme. It is also suitable for professionals from related fields (mental health, correctional officers, etc.) who wish to acquire practical knowledge applicable to their work, even if they do not work full-time in the field of drugs or addictions. This course is not suitable for recent graduates.

Objectives

To acquire the skills required to diagnose and treat addictions, particularly those produced by psychoactive drugs, and to provide care for people with a dual diagnosis and to reduce damage.

Recommended applicant profile

- University graduates in the fields of health sciences, social sciences or educational sciences.
- Experience and knowledge of drug dependency, as participation is required in seminars that will be attended by second-year students in the Master's Degree in Drug Dependencies programme.
- Alternatively, professionals in related fields (mental health, prisons, care for the homeless.) who wish to learn about intervention techniques useful for part of the population they work with, but with sufficient basic knowledge of the subject to participate in seminars with students in the second year of the related master's degree.

Access requirements and conditions

The course is also open to students with no prior university education, who will acquire the same knowledge and skills and receive a specific qualification for their learner group. Information on the access requirements and other conditions can be obtained from the course directors.
