Objectives and competences

This course allows the student to delve into the physical and biological principles of the impact of the main exposomal factors related to radiation, geography and climate, pollution and climate change. It also provides knowledge on the various ways this impact on the skin are manifested, such as photodermatosis, photocarcinogenesis and photodamage, as well as their diagnosis and prevention and an introduction to their treatment.

Objectives and competences

Objectives

- To create an excellent, innovative learning experience based on the health of the skin to increase knowledge, contribute new management tools for the patient and reinforce interaction with other doctors in the international community of dermatologists.
- To contribute to the creation and dissemination of general knowledge in the world of dermatology and specifically to reduce pathologies relating to the skin and the exposome in current society.
- To share existing social and scientific knowledge on the main external agents and the bases of skin disorders in the short, mid-, and long term (appearance and worsening of dematological disorders, impact on ageing).
- To demonstrate the main tools for measuring and diagnosing the impact of the exposome on skin disorders and on the general quality of life of the dematological patient.
- To acquire knowledge on the integral approach to the patient, with a focus on new techniques and treatment pathways that are centred on reducing the impact of external agents (e.g. photoprotection, probiotics).

Recommended applicant profile

- Dermatologists who are working at the start of the course.
- Graduates in medicine and surgery with a specialization in dermatology.
- Resident doctors taking a specialization course in dermatology.

Access for non-graduates is reserved exclusively for those with degrees in Medicine or Surgery with a specialization in Dermatology (underway or finished) whose qualification is not legalized in Spain at the start of the course.

Access requirements and conditions

The course is also open to students with no prior university education, who will acquire the same knowledge and skills and receive a specific qualification for their learner group. Information on the access requirements and other conditions can be obtained from the course directors.
