Objectives and competences

The aim of this postgraduate course is to train professionals who are qualified to detect and intervene in cases of family violence. To this end, it provides the appropriate tools and guidelines for dealing with this issue from an interdisciplinary perspective, considering factors from various areas that are in one way or another involved in the development of domestic violence and which are key to the use of appropriate intervention strategies in such situations.

Objectives and competences

Objectives

General objective:
- To acquire the necessary abilities to detect the different forms of domestic violence and be able to consequently intervene.

Specific objectives:
- Acquire the notional, attitudinal and procedural bases needed to understand, detect, assess and intervene in situations involving different types of family violence.
- Understand the legal bases regulating the treatment of victims of physical abuse.
- Understand the techniques and methods for preventing, detecting and intervening in cases of domestic violence, and the existing resources and programmes for these purposes.
- Be able to derive the detected cases to the corresponding service, in addition to coordinating measures with other professionals.
- Learn to reflect and discuss from an interdisciplinary point of view.
- Learn to design research and intervention programmes.

Recommended applicant profile

Degree and diploma holders and professionals in the areas of healthcare, psychological and social care, education and the law wish to develop more specialized skills and knowledge.

Access requirements and conditions

The course is also open to students with no prior university education, who will acquire the same knowledge and skills and receive a specific qualification for their learner group. Information on the access requirements and other conditions can be obtained from the course directors.
