Objectives and competences

The main objective is to deepen the methods of exploration and hydrogeological prospecting for the characterization of aquifers and geological formations. The secondary objectives are to gain the ability to determine the conceptual model of hydrogeological operation, as well as learn how to design an underground water catchment or a control borehole and the procedures for its final development and maintenance, sealing and abandonment. It is a 9-credit course taught using a blended learning methodology over a period of 6 months, with synchronous streaming/face-to-face classes and face-to-face activities (3-5 days).

This postgraduate course forms part of the master's degree or postgraduate degree

Objectives and competences

Objectives

- Establishment of the conceptual model of hydrogeological operation of the different systems and units.
- Know the foundations, methodologies and applications of hydrogeological exploration and prospecting methods and know how to choose the most appropriate ones for the characterization of aquifers and geological formations in each case.
- Learn to design an underground water catchment or a control borehole, applying the appropriate methodologies and calculations, choosing the materials, drilling methods and the installation of the well according to the requirements.
- Know the procedures for the final development and maintenance of the well, as well as the sealing and abandonment processes.
- To be able to carry out hydraulic calculations.
